Kinds of RIBO Insurance Service Jobs:
TSR: May not require RIBO, does not quote insurance to customers
- Upload new business and process policy changes and endorsements on company portals; do invoicing
- Gather information, fill out forms, support all office activities, assist CSRs Account Managers and Producers
- Data entry, assure quality of incoming service requests, support admin department as needed
- Take overflow inbound calls , give product knowledge to customers as allowed; pass calls to CSR
CSR: Requires RIBO, tell customers about insurance, quote insurance costs
- Prepare insurance quotes and sell, upsell and/or cross sell insurance policies
- Be familiar with product and rules of several markets, and underwriting standards of company
- Answer customers’ questions and address concerns
- Prepare and review renewals with customers and remarket policies as required
- Assist and provide support to producers when required
- Provide customers with exceptional service and an excellent experience every time
- Report and follow up on claims on behalf of customers
- Other sales or service projects as required
- You may have the need or opportunity to learn/know Commercial Insurance
Account Manager: Requires RIBO, similar to CSR, however:
- Take higher level of responsibility, to develop business, grow book, and build relationships with insurers
- Examples: Schedule follow-ups for policy reviews; prioritize customers; help build Center of Influence referral relationships.
Salaries, Holidays, Benefits
- Most brokerages pay for 100% group benefits; some pay 50%. Be sure to ask! The difference comes from your pay cheque.
- Most brokerages offer 2 weeks paid holidays for starter positions – this can increase to 4 weeks, occasionally more.
- A few brokerages offer “personal days” with pay – usually 8 days; and some will pay if you don’t take that time off.
- Range of base salaries for Downtown Toronto are $40,000 TSR to $70,000 Account Manager; Commercial to $80,000.
- We have seen VIP (High Net Worth “HNW”) account managers exceeding $70,000.
- Brokerages may pay extra for a) performance b) size of book managed c) retention d) upsell/cross-sell amounts e) insurance knowledge and status from Courses and Credentials: CIP, FCIP, CAIB, RM, and “DI”(advanced RIBO).
